Teach, Explore, and Transform: A Sri Lankan Adventure for Teachers

Hello teachers! I am Akila Perera, a Sri Lankan secondary school teacher currently on a teaching adventure in the UK.
But Sri Lanka is, and always will be, home.

My Story

For 14 years, I crisscrossed the island with my wife, Larsha, exploring its hidden wonders and teaching in schools across the country. From bustling Negombo to the ancient city of Anuradhapura, from the majestic Sigiriya rock fortress to the rural village of Meemure, I've seen the incredible potential of Sri Lankan children. They're bright, eager to learn, and possess a genuine cheerfulness that's truly infectious.
Sri Lanka boasts a remarkable 92% literacy rate, a testament to the thirst for knowledge here. But many schools, especially those in remote areas, lack the resources to fully nurture this potential. Larsha and I have witnessed this firsthand. That's why we, along with Lankan Travel Deck, are on a mission to bridge this gap.
Imagine this: sharing your passion for teaching with a group of enthusiastic students in a beautiful part of the world. Imagine exploring ancient ruins, witnessing breathtaking landscapes, and immersing yourself in the vibrant Sri Lankan culture – all while making a real difference in young lives.
We've partnered with schools in Negombo (Gatulawa), Anuradhapura, Sigiriya, and Meemure.
These schools have limited resources, but the students are bursting with talent. With the help of amazing travelers like you, we've been able to donate school supplies, laptops, and even water systems to these deserving schools.
Here's the exciting part: we want YOU to join this incredible journey. Come share your knowledge, experience the beauty of Sri Lanka, and create memories that will last a lifetime. This isn't just a volunteering opportunity; it's a chance to connect with fellow teachers, explore a fascinating country, and make a lasting impact on a new generation of learners.
Think about it: used laptops gathering dust in your attic? Textbooks yearning for new readers? These are all treasures to a Sri Lankan student. But most importantly, your knowledge and passion are the greatest gifts you can bring.
So, are you ready for an adventure that combines the joy of teaching with the magic of Sri Lanka? We'd love to have you join us! Just drop us a line and let's chat about this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
